Indian Lake Nocturne

At our recent Indian Lake outing I did an underpainting for a nocturne before being driven out by mosquitos. I finally got around to finishing it from a combination of memory and invention (the moon never actually came out).  So here it is and don't tell me it looks like a sunset ;-)

  1. Wow!! This is really nice, Tom! It definitely is a nocturne and not a sunset but people who know Indian Lake would know the moon is never in that part of the sky which is too bad because this way makes a better painting! The reflection on the water and the clouds are very well done. A great example of how painting outdoors a lot helps when painting in the studio from notes and memory. Beautiful painting!!

  2. Definitely the a moon. The reflections in the clouds and water are lovely and the tree shadows are convincing. Nicely done Tom!
