McCarthy Park Outing

We had a few people painting at McCarthy yesterday.  The temperature and humidity were fine, but I didn't expect such a hazy sky.  I suppose the wildfires have something to do with it.  The sun looked more like an orange moon rather than the sun. I tried to get the effect of the haze into my painting. It may still need some touch up but this is the plein air version.

Belleville Outing

Since we started a Facebook group page I sense we may be neglecting our good old blog.  I do think the blog has some advantages and I hope we can keep it up.  Here's my painting from Belleville where we had a really surprising nice evening when the sun came.  I left a bit early so I could watch the Bucks basketball game, but, then, all the way home the sunset skies were really majestic.  I should have stayed and painted.

I'm also posting a painting of a scene from McCarthy park where we'll be painting on July 28, in the evening.  I started this painting a long time ago and I had wiped out the sky and just left the foreground.  Finally a couple months ago I decided to play with this painting and added the sky.  Can't remember where I got this sky from, but it was a fun painting.

Hope to see you next week.

Tom

On July 28th (Wednesday) we’ll paint in the evening at McCarthy Park.  I plan to get there about 5:30 pm.

McCarthy Park is east of Madison off County Road “TT”.  It's near the intersection of Interstate 94 and CTH “N” (see map on Events calendar post)  There is a restroom.  Hope to see you there.  Tom Gilbert

Update: Painting at Belleville changed to Thursday July 8th

Due to rain in forecast we changed the date from Wed. to Thurs.  Same place and time.  Scheduling with this unstable weather pattern is tricky.  It will be much cooler anyway and hopefully drier.

Evening Painting at Belleville Community Park - July 7th

 Sugar River – Belleville

Start time about 5:30 pm and, of course, where you park depends on where you paint, but for a primary meeting area let’s go past the first large parking lot, and park at the lot that’s further in, by the restroom building next to the lake. See attached map. So if you’re looking for people remember to check both lots.  The park is just north of the Village, off hwy. 69. (For map click on date on Events calendar then click on Belleville Community Park)
