Painting at Cherokee Park followed by Annual Potluck Sept. 15th (rain date Sept. 16)

Watercolor of Cherokee Park by Gretchen Twietmeyer

Hi All!

We can’t let another summer get away without a Plein Air potluck so let’s go for it…

2021 DCPAP PLEIN AIRE POT LUCK

Wednesday, September 15,2021 - 8AM

Cherokee Marsh

(Thursday September 16 rain date)

Please bring a dish to pass. You can deliver food to me anytime after 7AM for convenience/refrigeration if you’d like.

1013 Menomonie Lane

608-354-5314 (Marla)

If all goes according to plan, in addition to the Plein Aire opportunity we will have a young neighbor Chloe Johnson modeling in the backyard from 9-noon for anyone interested. She is only available Wednesday so let’s hope the weather is good. I will be compensating Chloe for her time but feel free to give her an appreciation tip. She is a very bright home-schooled student, and is saving for college.

You are all welcome to use the facilities in the house. I just ask that you wear a mask when inside. Enter front door, turn right into hall, first door on the left.

This year we will put food out on the lower level. Come through gates on the right or left side of house to back yard then enter back door. Lunch starts around noon. We can dish up and sit outside in the back yard. Please bring a chair (and umbrella if needed). I will set up a table & tent but depending on the number of people attending we may not all fit under it.

Cherokee presents many near-by painting opportunities. There is the park on Burningwood Way, a nearby marina on Lighthouse Bay Drive near Mariners Inn on Mendota, the marsh path at the end of Sherman Avenue and the foot paths near the intersection Wheeler & School Roads. Since we’ll all be gathering for lunch just paint what delights you. Bring your painting and your easel for display to our driveway so we can all enjoy each other’s work.

Russ has been having some health concerns this summer. If I find we are needing to deal with a health issue our backup location will be Joan Sieber’s home also in Cherokee at 1005 Burning Wood Way. We will keep you posted through email updates.

So looking forward to seeing everyone!

Marla

  1. Many thanks to Marla and Joan for hosting this event!! It has been awhile since we have been able to gather like this and it is always a great time, with good food and good painting.
