McCarthy Park Outing

Had another nice evening for painting except for a new batch of mosquitos that was really distracting.  My painting from yesterday needs some work (scraping out mosquito carcasses) but here's another recent painting that I call "Lake Monona Above Flood Stage".  And if I can get to it, I may try painting at Tenney Park just to see if any decent new scenes have been created by the expanded lake.

  1. Nice job on that tree. The values read really well. I admire your knife work. Very convincing lake weeds; they are not ugly like in real life.

  2. Thanks Pat, I've been experimenting lately not only with knife work but with using a large silicone paint shaper. I think that's what it called (it's like a squeegee).

  3. Couldn't make it again -- school started for the kids last week already. Hopefully, next time. Really like the tree and the foreground -- great job!

  4. The tree is lovely as well as the lake weeds. The cool values of the far shore reads well too. Nice work Tom.
