Cherokee Park

Lots of good paintings, helpful advice, and good food and company at Marla's made for an enjoyable painting day.  Thanks again Marla for hosting.  Here's my painting after I took some of the advice I received and tried to fix it up.  I had trouble getting the large tree on the right to look like it fit into the scene and this was best I could do.

  2. Tom, I think you could fit it more into the scene -- to use your phrase -- if you made the bottom of the tree and the darker grass behind it into one shape by using the same value for them, or creating an 'opening' in the bottom of the tree. Something along the lines of the paining by Marc Dalessio Wheat Fields Along the Clitunno http://www.marcdalessio.com/landscape-painting/

  3. Thanks the comments. And Darya, your comment about connecting shapes, and thus simplifying them, is a good idea and probably would help. I appreciate specific comments like that.
