Paoli

Had a good group and a beautiful morning to paint at Paoli.  Here's my painting of the sugar river.  I wasn't quite happy with my onsite effort so I repainted it rather substantially at home and came up with this.  I had some value problems with my first effort which often seems to happen when I'm painting  a back-lit sunny scene.

Plein Air Oil Painting Workshop - Next Monday June 28th in Spring Green

   -  PAINTING IN PAOLI  TODAY AND A NEW WORKSHOP IN SPRING GREEN  -

We had a great time painting in Paoli today and a very good lunch on the patio at the pub on the main drag. Pam Grabber told us about the workshop below. She is attending and I will sign up shortly. Pam studied with this teacher in Door County and speaks very highly of her and a $45 workshop is a bargain. Here is an excerpt from a post about the class which will be this coming Monday in Spring Green.

"On Monday, bring your paints and join us for a day of Plein Air Still Life Painting with Bethann Moran-Handzlik, the award-winning painter and teacher. Bethann shares her great experience and technique, and makes everyone feel welcome and supportive whether you are a novice or an experienced artist.
Treat yourself to one or both of these amazing workshops!! Register at www.artslabspringgreen.org.

Date Change for Painting in Paoli to Tuesday June 22nd 8:00 AM

We decided to change the date due rain in the forecast for Wed.  So we will meet in the same place at same time but on Tuesday (tomorrow) instead.  Might be a bit cool early but warm enough for lunch outdoors later for anyone who has time to hang around. Here's the website for the Mill Park where we will meet in the parking lot. http://www.paolimillpark.com/

Paint in Paoli June 23rd 8am

Per Tom:

We haven’t painted at Paoli for a while, so I thought we could do that next Wednesday morning (June 23th).  Start time about 8 am.  The shops open about 11 so we might want to stay and get some lunch together.  Painters could set up in various areas around the village area but I’ll say the main meeting / painting area will be the park next to the Paoli Mill building and extending down to the Sugar River. This is actually a private park but I talked to the one shop owner there who also owns the park, and she said we were welcome to paint there anytime during the week, but not on weekends because of the crowds. There are some porta-restrooms there that I presume we could use, and, later on, we could probably use the shop.

Hot Day at Nine Springs

Had nice group at our outing yesterday and good weather except it was a little hot and muggy at the start. We probably should have started more like 6:30 or later, rather than 5:30 or so.  I painted from the hill (no shade!) but had nice views with huge clouds drifting by.  When I first found my painting spot there was a large well-redesigned cloud that I wanted to capture but it dissipated rather quickly.  But I still used my memory and bits and pieces of other clouds to make this sky painting.
